The organiser and initiator of the International Conference “Adriatic Wood Days” is the Croatian Wood Cluster, the leader association in the wood processing sector in Croatia, which brings together over seventy companies and representatives of the academic community, government and related sectors, such as forestry and the energy industry.
The conference took place on Monday and Tuesday, December 2nd and 3rd at the Sheraton Hotel in Dubrovnik. It was attended by 160 participants from the entire Europe, as well as representatives from the European Bioenergy Association - Bioenergy Europe, European Pellet Council and the European ROSEWOOD Network. The aim of the Conference was to discuss important sectoral topics, to propose solutions to the numerous challenges facing woodworking sector, but also to exchange experiences on sectoral innovations.
During the two-day Conference, presentations, panel discussions and workshops covered the variety of topics such as forest management, wooden constructions, design, biomass and renewable energy, as well as European programs and projects.
The Assistant Minister for Regional Development and EU Funds, Stella Arneri, attended the conference on behalf of the Croatian Presidency of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region. She presented the Croatian Presidency by comparing the Thematic priorities of the Presidency with the Conference goals and stressed the importance of transnational cooperation through macro-regional strategies as an important ground for establishing partnerships in the field of innovative solutions.
